While usual colour filters only block wavelengths which are shorter than the specified cut-on-wavelength (the wavelength at which the transmission is 50% of the maximum), band-pass filters block wavelengths before as well as after the defined wavelength range. Therefore the band width of the transmitted light of band-pass filters is a lot narrower than that of colour filters.
Band-pass filters are amongst others very suitable for applications in the area of traffic, food and beverages, laser and semi-conductor inspection.
